A CLASSIC CONCEPT, A NEW ANGLE : Under Defeat is a top-down, scrolling shooter where you control a helicopter that can move in eight directions. The game offers a streamlined experience with only two buttons (fire and bomb), making it easy to pick up but difficult to master.
What sets it apart from other titles in the genre is its rotation system: when you turn, your shots are directed slightly to the left or right, allowing you to adjust your strategy by using different angles of attack.
You also have access to a small, optional, satellite-like unit that fires independently. To charge it, however, you must release the fire button for a while, creating a tactical dynamic rarely seen in such an intense shoot 'em up.
Players can also enjoy exploring a level as one of the many enemy monsters in the Monstrous Challenge mode. Finally, the game has been improved with the addition of several new levels!

An arcade game is very different from a game you play at home, and Under Defeat has had many additions since its arcade release in 2005. The New Order mode uses a more modern 16:9 aspect ratio, the game's textures have been refined, and four soundtracks are available.
Among these, you'll discover a brand new soundtrack by legendary composer Shinji Hosoe, known for his work on Ridge Racer, Tekken, Street Fighter EX, SuperSweep, and many other titles. Of course, you can also rediscover the original experience by playing Under Defeat in its classic arcade version. How you enjoy this explosive action packed experience is up to you!
A DIVE INTO THE PAST
Under Defeat is a true classic of the genre. Developed by G.rev, the game first appeared in Japanese arcades nearly twenty years ago. Over time, it has been released on various platforms.
It was notably released on Dreamcast in 2006, well after the console's official support had ended. This 2024 edition is the definitive version of the game, including all previous content, carefully ported by veterans of the genre.
A WAR WITHOUT ENDING
Under Defeat doesn't immerse you in a completely implausible science fiction universe. On the contrary, it offers a (mostly) realistic vision of a futuristic past. You play as a helicopter pilot caught up in a never-ending war between the Empire and the Union, a bitter struggle that has lasted for over ten years.
Both sides are exhausted and have suffered heavy losses, but all hope for peace seems elusive. Will this destructive conflict ever end? It's up to you to find out!
