Red Barrels and Laced Records put their cooperative partnership to the test with the release of Tom Salta's deeply unsettling soundtrack to The Outlast Trials on good old vinyl.
The complete 35-track soundtrack has been specially mastered for vinyl and will be pressed on heavyweight vinyl records. These are presented in printed inner sleeves, accompanied by a liner notes insert (with messages from the composer and audio director), all housed in an expanded outer sleeve with artwork by the Red Barrels team.
Composer Tom Salta (Deathloop, PUBG, Halo) is a master of modern composition techniques and 20th-century period music. The Outlast Trials features a varied horror soundtrack, with chilling audio production and unusual orchestral and musique concrète techniques that serve as a foundation for creating moods. These elements are complemented by a faux mid-century jingle, jazzy elevator music, honky tonk piano, and other diegetic ditties. Salta uses the language of music to immerse people in a nightmarish emotional dimension, underpinning all the macabre experiences players will encounter.
