A decade later, Sonic Colors: Ultimate and witness a remixed renaissance of this brilliant entry in the hedgehog’s musical lineage, because this isn’t your average soundtrack. This is a whiz kid on the rise, sprinting swiftly and deftly through worlds as if they were sections of a Green Hill Zone record store. Each side of the album is a stylistic cross-section, feverishly pivoting and blending guitar rock, caffeinated ska, keyboard synthesizer, punchy electronics, and more—masterfully rendered by gaming legends Tomoya Ohtani and Jun Senoue. As this is a musical cocktail of many flavors, we thought it was only fitting to offer a variety of vinyl treatments and a minimalist, energetic album artwork by Matt Stevenson to perfectly embody this beautiful musical frenzy.
