The album comes in die-cut packaging designed by Jay Shaw, with liner notes by David Sims, and pressed on 180-gram black vinyl.

Years before MIAMI VICE, HEAT and MANHUNTER, director Michael Mann first tackled the crime genre with a film starring James Caan about a Chicago diamond thief and his latest big heist. It sounds simple enough, but while it could have easily seemed like a relic of the New Hollywood movement of the '70s, THIEF is firmly in the '80s thanks to Tangerine Dream's incredible, and at the time revolutionary, approach to film music.

They kicked off a wave of electronic film music—Tangerine Dream alone scored nearly twenty films during the '80s—but THIEF has always been a favorite of ours, and we're honored to reissue it as the film approaches its 40th anniversary.
