Four Old Gods of Asgard songs have already been listened to millions of times on Spotify.
The upcoming album, "Rebirth - Greatest Hits," features four previously digitally released tracks and four new songs, three of which feature in Remedy's game "Alan Wake 2." The game is scheduled for release on October 27, 2023. Creating “Rebirth” was a bit like chasing stars in the seas of imagination. Additionally, it has been extremely rewarding to witness the incredible talent and dedication of everyone involved in the project. Everyone gave their all and really got involved,” commented Marko Saaresto, the band’s singer.
Remedy Entertainment is one of the most successful video game companies in Finland, and the upcoming game "Alan Wake 2" is one of the biggest Finnish productions of all time. It combines acting and live action and features many familiar actors from Finland and abroad. The game continues the story of writer Alan Wake, which began in the first game "Alan Wake" in 2010. Marko, Olli and Captain of the Poets of the Fall group first appear in "Alan Wake 2" in as characters from the Old Gods of Asgard group.
"It's the culmination of a long and incredible journey between friends. A dream come true. The songs from the album played an important role in several Remedy games (Alan Wake, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, Control and Alan Wake 2), deepening the story or creating memorable scenes We hope you enjoy the music as much as we enjoyed creating the band and the songs,” said Sami Järvi, creative director of Remedy.
The group Old Gods of Asgard is therefore a joint creation of Sami Järvi of Remedy and Poets of the Fall, which we heard for the first time in the game "Alan Wake" in 2010.
The group has its own history and mythology in the world of Remedy games. Song lyrics are closely related to the game's plot and provide clues to players. The band was last heard in Remedy's 2019 game "Control", with the single song "Take Control" being the first interactive rock song that changes depending on the game's situation during an extended fight scene. The collaboration with Remedy began in 2003 with the game "Max Payne 2", which featured the group's first song, the hit "Late Goodbye". She won the "Grammy of the Gaming World", the GANG Award for Best Pop Song in a Video Game. It was a great start to the band's career and collaboration with Remedy.
