Genesis gives players a glimpse into the world of Darksiders even before the events of the original game, and introduces the Horseman of the Apocalypse Strife.
Since ancient times, the Council has maintained the balance of reality. The Horsemen are its armed wing: they are Nephilim (powerful creatures born from the unnatural union between angels and demons) who have sworn allegiance to the Council and have been endowed with immeasurable powers.
However, their story is tragic: the Horsemen were ordered to use this power to eradicate their own species. A bloody battle ensued on Eden, during which the Horsemen, obeying the will of the Council, massacred the Nephilim. Still reeling from the events of Eden, War and Strife are entrusted with a new mission: Lucifer, a mysterious demon king, is preparing to upset the balance by granting powers to the demon masters of Hell. War and Strife must track down these demons, gather information, and unravel the web of a demonic conspiracy that threatens to irreparably disrupt the balance and the very fabric of creation.
